Hi and thanks for visiting! I’m Alicia Mizik. My husband, Paul, and I are recently married as of October 2016 and live in Kansas with our fur child, Cheyenne. I love everything about food: trying new foods, the nostalgia you feel when you smell an old family recipe, and how food brings people together. I eat healthy regularly but my weaknesses are, well, basically fat. I just really love cheese and ice cream okay? I love to cook, but even more than that, I love cooking for other people. It’s my favorite way to serve others and my favorite excuse to invite someone over for a glass of wine.
If you’re looking for extremly complex and gourmet recipes, you most likely will not find that here. What you will find are some tried and true family recipes from incredible cooks, like my mom, and recipes I’ve modified or created myself through trial and error in the kitchen. You’ll also find a good mix between recipes that are good for the body, and recipes that are good for the soul (read: anything chocolate). My hope is that we’ll learn together as I strive every week to become a better cook.
On a personal note, cooking isn’t my only hobby. I lead worship at an incredible church in Lawrence, Kansas and it brings me immeasurable joy. Singing was my first hobby and my first love. I work full time as a distribution planner for a large shoe retailer. I can’t go more than two days missing a good, hard workout without losing my mind a little, and my favorite way to slow down is to spend time outside (preferably on a boat) with Paul and Chey.
